About Robert Hilton Born at N'dola in Northern Rhodesia, (Zambia) in 1957.
The family moved to Southern Rhodesia from Zambia in 1965. Schooled at Umtali Junior, and Umtali Boys High Schools,
I joined the Rhodesian Air Force as an Armourer (1975-1980), 34LAR, spending the majority of my time at Thornhill, Gwelo.
In May 1980, I left the Air Force of Zimbabwe, worked for Consolidated Glass Industries or ZimGlass
as they became, for Zimbabwe Alloys and Airwork Ltd Zimbabwe also in Gwelo. Following the political situation and the events of the sabotage at Thornhill, I moved to UK in 1984,
spending my time in Bournemouth and Oman.
A Private Pilots Licence started in Zimbabwe finished in Bournemouth with A&G Aviation at Christchurch-Hurn airport.
Oman (3 1/2 yrs), Somalia (6 months), Saudi Arabia (2 1/2
yrs), When I first arrived
in Australia in 1989, I was involved in the assembly of the Pilatus PC9's
for the RAAF and the RAAF "Roulettes"
with Hawker De Havilland at Bankstown Airport, and for a period of time worked in the security industry, before returning to aviation with Airflite Ltd at Sale in Victoria,
where I was employed working on Central Flying School and RAAF "Roulettes" , Pilatus PC9 Ejection Seats. I am presently working at BAE SYSTEMS Australia, at Williamtown Newcastle Airport on Hawk 127 LIF Deeper Maintenance, Airframes/Engines/Ejection Seats
I am married to
my lovely wife, Christine, and we have a 7 yr old son, James. We have set up home at Nelson Bay
